Stretch is the story with the Burton [ak] Helium Stretch Insulated Pant, which pairs super stretch fabric with stretch insulation so a warm mid-layer never feels stiff. It's comfortable enough that you'll probably wear it well beyond the mountain.
Under that stretch sits 40g Thermacore Stretch insulation for high-output days. Zippered handwarmer pockets and a zippered back pocket keep small items close, and stretch binding at the cuffs helps the pant sit neatly under your shell.
